So you want to make a great first impression in our Slack community. The good news is that you have nothing to worry about. First, because it's a loving and inclusive community and we are prepared to accept you no matter what. Second, we made this quick and easy walkthrough to set up your profile and help you connect with members right away.

To start: Upload a Profile Picture

If you go to edit your profile, you'll see a screen similar to the one below.

Update your:

  • Real name in the Full name field (this will help build relationships that are... real)
  • Preferred Display name
  • Current Title + Organization (Digital Project Manager at Google)
  • Profile photo (your LinkedIn photo works great!)
  • Pronouns

You can also optionally edit the details in the "About me" section to include your LinkedIn profile and your current city.

Next: Step into the Slack channels 📺

You can find a full list of channels in here.

Got an idea for a new channel? At-mention a DPM team member in Slack (not sure who to tag? Message us in #dpm-feature-requests).

Now: Only you have the power 🪄

Now that you've set up your profile and browsed our channels, add your story to the list in #member-intros 👋🏻 You will get out of this community what you put into it, so get out there and get ahead!

And if you haven't already, please review our Code of Conduct—it always helps to start off on the same page.
