Stephen Devaux is the President and founder of Analytic Project Management (APM), a consulting and training firm he established in 1992 — widely respected for pioneering an investment-based approach to project management. As a project-management theorist, consultant, author, and educator with over 35 years of experience, he developed the Total Project Control (TPC) framework and metrics such as Devaux's Index of Project Performance (DIPP), critical-path drag, and value breakdown structure (VBS), reshaping how organizations view projects — not as cost-centers but as investments. His consulting clients have ranged widely — from aerospace and defense firms to financial institutions and manufacturing — and he has taught graduate and executive-education courses at multiple universities, while authoring influential books including Managing Projects as Investments and Total Project Control.
