I know we’re not the only ones producing a project management podcast filled with advice and takeaways that are insightful, practical, and actionable.

There’s no shortage of voices and perspectives contributing knowledge and insights to the field, and I’d like to celebrate some of my favorites. Below, you’ll find my list of the best project management podcasts, what you can expect from each one, and where to listen!

Top 12 Project Management Podcasts

Here are my picks for the project management podcasts to check out this year, whether you're a PM beginner or a seasoned vet. Remember: you can often earn professional development units (PDUs) for listening to podcasts.

1. The Digital Project Manager Podcast

As host of this podcast, I chat with subject matter experts, real-world digital project managers, project professionals, and all manner of industry insiders to cover topics that matter in today’s project management landscape.

Recently, I talked to Dave Prior, a certified Scrum trainer at LeadingAgile, about how agencies can actually make agile work for them.

Hear directly from Dave about how to overcome common challenges with agile agency transformations and implement a strong agile culture. Listen to the episode here!

3. PMO Strategies

Laura Barnard’s podcast covers project management at the project management office (PMO) level. Her aim is to focus on impact and outcomes with her guests, rather than project management tools and processes (although these are still important).

Listen in on Laura and her guests as she shares insights for leading change and improving your PMO to help deliver organizational and project success.

Earlier this year, in an episode about getting project teams and other stakeholders on board with the changes that projects bring, Laura spoke with guest Barbara Trautlein. They discussed overcoming resistance to change, the neuroscience behind this resistance, and mindsets about change. It’s a fascinating listen!

4. Project Management Happy Hour

Kim Essendrup and Kate Anderson’s podcast takes a more casual and frank approach to issues and challenges in the project management world. Alongside their guests, Kim and Kate offer advice, practical tips, and examples to help you tackle those challenges. The podcast also avoids the dullness sometimes associated with theory- or methodology-heavy topics.

In a recent episode, they discussed how project managers can lead teams when they aren’t the boss. Their take is that project managers need to go beyond acting as a facilitator and using servant leadership to actually get stuff done. How? Listen to the episode!

6. Manage This

Hosts Andy Crowe and Bill Yates cover project management topics in all kinds of sectors and fields—construction, infrastructure, health care, technology, and more. Glean insights from their conversations with expert guests that you can take back to your own organization or teams.

Recently, Crowe and Yates had Richard Lawrence and Peter Green on the podcast to discuss the role of the project manager on Scrum teams.

While Scrum teams are supposed to organize themselves, Lawrence and Green argue that it’s important for project managers to set up an environment where teams can thrive, rather than tell them what to do. Hear the full conversation here.

In a recent episode, Kaufman discussed the idea of expert leadership vs. spanning leadership with guest Wanda T. Wallace.

Not all project managers have technical knowledge and expertise in the projects they manage, so how can you go about enabling the team to get the work done efficiently and effectively? Check out the episode here.
