Emerging Retail Tech (Boulder) with David Clements (Crispin, Porter + Bogusky)
12/14/2017 @ 6:00 pm UTC-7
When you think of digital retail innovation most would probably think of eCommerce websites and for good reason: nothing has been more disruptive to the selling of goods than eCommerce. US eCommerce Sales, according to the US Department of Commerce, eCommerce sales in the US (according to the US Department of Commerce) brought in $394.9 billion in 2016.
But, eCommerce still only represents 11% of all retail. Which means that most of us still buy most of our things at physical stores. And while that number continues to grow, traditional “brick and mortar” retailers aren’t going away anytime soon if at all.
Still, “traditional” retailers cannot rest on the laurels: they must continue to innovate to distinguish and augment the physical shopping experience. More importantly, they must give consumers reasons to a store is better than a few clicks online.
For our next meeting we will discuss some recent digital retail innovations and how they both address the challenges and opportunities when trying to sell physical stuff in a physical place.
Leading this discussion for us is David Clements: Sr. User Experience Designer at Crispin, Porter & Bogusky. For over three years, Dave has worked on the Domino’s account, helping bring ideas to life in the digital space from microsite extensions of campaign ideas to bot logic for next gen ordering. Most recently, he’s helped work on in store kiosks that are starting to be deployed in Domino’s stores across the country.
We’d like to thank our sponsors for helping to make our meetups happen:
